An appeal to His Holiness Garegin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians
Your Holiness,
at this most difficult moment in the history of Armenia, when 23 Armenian hostages, including military-political leaders of the occupied and ethnically cleansed Republic of Artsakh, including Ruben Vardanyan, who has been on a hunger strike for 22 days, demanding a fair trial from the Aliyev administration, are being tortured and harassed in Baku prisons under the guise of an illegal trial, and we also have about 80 forcibly disappeared Armenians, about whose whereabouts Baku has not yet provided any official information, we, Armenian women and mothers, turn to you with unwavering hope and faith, asking for your patriarchal support.
We ask you, at your fatherly insistence, to call on Ruben Vardanyan to stop his death hunger strike, which has already had certain political consequences. It is time to move on to other forms of struggle. The God- given life and health of each of our compatriots are precious to all of us. We are convinced that Ruben Vardanyan and all Armenians are waiting for your strong, balanced words and wise instructions, the power of prayer, as a beacon of God’s light.

We know that you and the representatives of the Mother See have done serious work to ensure a fair trial and the speedy release of our compatriots who are being tortured in Baku prisons on fabricated charges for being Armenians and fighting for Artsakh’s right to self-determination.
Your great international authority, your connections with fraternal churches and Islamic countries, your spiritual leaders will allow us to achieve serious progress on the difficult path of solving this national issue. Our modest forces are at your service.
