On March 19, the Deputy Chair of the RA NA Standing Committee on Human Rights Protection and Public Affairs Rustam Bakoyan met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Germany to our country Claudia Busch.
Welcoming and congratulating Claudia Busch on assuming the office of Ambassador, Rustam Bakoyan wished her fruitful work in our country. The Deputy Chair of the Committee emphasized the dynamic development of Armenian-German relations and cooperation in various directions, especially in terms of strengthening democracy in the region.
The MP presented the spheres of the activities of the Committee led by him, spoke about the legislative initiatives on Ensuring Equality and Protection from Anti-Discrimination and on National Minorities” currently under discussion by the Committee, detailing the motivations for reforming a number of provisions in them.
Referring to the active participation of civil society in the development of legislative initiatives, the MP noted that after 2018, the role of civil society and its involvement in various processes have increased in our country.

Speaking about Armenia-European Union close cooperation, the launch of the dialogue on the visa liberalisation of the European Union, Rustam Bakoyan highlighted the active involvement of Germany in that process.
Issues regarding the violations of human rights, Armenian prisoners of war and other detainees in Azerbaijan were discussed. According to Rustam Bakoyan, the Committee regularly informs international partners about the situation through correspondence, expecting that the latter will not only raise their voices and condemn it in international instances, but also find tools that will make it possible to have an impact on the trials of Armenians in Baku.
The Ambassador of Germany emphasized the progress of Armenia in the protection of human rights, talked about deepening of bilateral cooperation in different spheres.
