The “Armenia” faction of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia expresses its gratitude to both chambers of the Federal Assembly of Switzerland—the National Council and the Council of States—for adopting the resolution titled “Peace Forum for Nagorno-Karabakh: Enabling the Return of Armenians.”
This principled and timely decision reflects Switzerland’s longstanding commitment to international law, universal humanitarian values, and inclusive diplomacy.
By emphasizing the necessity of establishing a special forum to promote dialogue between representatives of Nagorno-Karabakh and Azerbaijan, Switzerland is making an important contribution toward ensuring the collective return of Armenians forcibly displaced from their ancestral homeland, as well as the realization of other fundamental rights.
We deeply appreciate the willingness of both chambers of the Swiss Parliament to support and implement this vital initiative, and we welcome the upcoming role of the Federal Council in making it a reality.
The forced displacement of the Armenian population of Nagorno-Karabakh—carried out with the intent of ethnic cleansing and accompanied by military actions—has not only created a severe humanitarian crisis but also poses a serious moral and legal challenge to the international community.
Switzerland’s leadership in organizing the dialogue forum is a sign of hope and an example of constructive engagement. We are ready to actively support this initiative and closely cooperate with our Swiss partners and all stakeholders to ensure the forum’s effective implementation and to contribute to the establishment of lasting and just peace in the South Caucasus.
