Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan held a phone conversation with Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary Péter Szijjártó.

The interlocutors discussed issues on the bilateral agenda between Armenia and Hungary. Ararat Mirzoyan and Péter Szijjártó emphasized the active dynamics of political dialogue between the two countries, a significant manifestation of which were the decisions to open resident embassies in Yerevan and Budapest. The ministers exchanged views on upcoming plans.

Parallel to the political dialogue, the interlocutors highlighted the importance of further expanding cooperation, particularly in the economic sphere. In this context, Minister Mirzoyan expressed satisfaction with the ratification of the “Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Armenia and the Government of Hungary on Economic Cooperation” and stressed the need to fully capitalize on the opportunities it provides.

The Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Hungary also discussed efforts to deepen the Armenia-EU partnership, including through the more effective use of existing mechanisms.

Regional issues were also addressed. The Armenian Foreign Minister underscored the importance of the welcoming position expressed by Minister Szijjártó regarding the finalization of the “Agreement on Peace and Establishment of Interstate Relations between the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan”. Ararat Mirzoyan noted that the Armenian side views the signing of the agreement as the logical continuation of this historic milestone and has proposed to the Azerbaijani side to hold consultations regarding the time and venue of the signing.
