On April 3, the RA NA President Alen Simonyan received the delegation led by the Chairman of the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Trần Thanh Mẫn , being on an official visit in Armenia. First, Alen Simonyan had a private conversation with his Vietnamese counterpart, thanking him for accepting his invitation to visit Armenia and visiting our country with such a high representative delegation. In his turn, Trần Thanh Mẫn thanked the RA NA President for warm reception, noting that he is very impressed with the visit to Armenia.
The meeting in the extended format of the delegations followed the private conversation, during which the various issues regarding the bilateral agenda were discussed, particularly stressing the activation of inter-parliamentary cooperation, as well as the relations of the friendship groups functioning in the parliaments of the two countries.
During the meeting Alen Simonyan touched upon the project of already completed peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan, noting that the Armenian side is ready to sign it, in response to which, Trần Thanh Mẫn stated that Vietnam supports the process of establishing peace between the two countries and strengthening the stability in the region.
During the discussions a reference was also made to the issues of activating the economic ties between Armenia and Vietnam and the necessity of developing concrete steps being undertaken in that regard. Alen Simonyan also drew the attention of the NA Chairman of Vietnam to the problem of the Armenian captives being held in Baku.

At the end of the meeting, the Agreement on Cooperation between the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia and the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam was signed by the NA President and the NA Chairman of the two countries.
