On April 28, in the city of Laxou, France, RA High Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs Zareh Sinanyan, accompanied by Mayor of Laxou Laurent Garcia and Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs André Nersier, visited the “Map of Memory” exhibition.
The High Commissioner toured the exhibition hall and became acquainted with the works of artists from Armenia and of Armenian and French artists from the Grand Est region.
During the visit, Zareh Sinanyan expressed gratitude to Mayor Laurent Garcia for his warm attitude toward the Armenian people and community, for supporting various initiatives, and for the decision to name the municipal park of Laxou “Garden of Armenia.”
The High Commissioner emphasized the importance of strengthening Armenian-French dialogue and invited Mayor Garcia to visit Armenia in order to expand cooperation and further develop friendly relations.
Later, Zareh Sinanyan met with Françoise Souliman, Prefect of Meurthe-et-Moselle, in the city of Nancy.
During the meeting, he praised the regional authorities’ support for the local Armenian communities, particularly in the context of organizing events dedicated to the 110th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide.

The High Commissioner highlighted the importance of deepening Armenian-French relations in political, economic, cultural, and other fields. He specifically emphasized the active participation and key role of the Armenian community of Meurthe-et-Moselle in strengthening the friendship between the two peoples.
Noting the significance of decentralized cooperation, the High Commissioner stressed the need for implementing joint projects in cultural, educational, economic, and scientific-technical areas, underlining that the Office of the High Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs is ready to support such initiatives.
