On May 2, in Geneva, within the sidelines of Armenia’s National Report for the Fourth Cycle under the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) process of the United Nations, Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia Robert Abisoghomonyan had a meeting with Raouf Mazou, the Assistant High Commissioner for Operations at the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).
The Deputy Foreign Minister commended the effective cooperation established between Armenia and the Office of UNHCR, particularly in addressing the challenges facing Armenia.
During the meeting, the issues of addressing the medium and long-term needs of forcibly displaced persons from Nagorno-Karabakh were discussed. In this context, Deputy Foreign Minister Robert Abisoghomonyan emphasized the importance of the continued engagement of UNHCR in the ongoing programs aimed at addressing long-term needs.
The Deputy Foreign Minister briefed his counterpart on the latest regional developments, reiterating the commitment of Armenia to the peace agenda and emphasizing the importance of signing the agreement on peace and establishment of interstate relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
