On May 27, as part of his working visit to France, the High Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs of the Republic of Armenia, Zareh Sinanyan, met with active members and youth of the Armenian community in Décines-Charpieu, a city in the Lyon Metropolis.
The meeting was also attended by Denis Djorkaeff, Deputy Mayor of Décines-Charpieu; Levon Sakounts, Deputy Mayor of Vienne; Robert Ter-Arsenyan, Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs in France; Adrien Vahagn Sage, President of the Front for the Defense of the Armenian Cause in France (FDACAF), President of the Laïcité et République Sociale organization, and Chief Delegate of the “Mouvement Français-Arménien” organization; Jacques Raffy Papazian, President of the “Mouvement Français-Arménien” organization; and other notable figures.
During the discussion, participants emphasized the strong and lasting sister-city relationship between Décines-Charpieu and the Armenian city of Stepanavan, established back in 1991, as well as the continued development of this partnership.
In this context, they also highlighted the importance of preparations for the Fifth Armenian-French Decentralized Cooperation Conference, scheduled to take place in Goris on June 2–3, viewing it as another key platform for deepening bilateral relations and fostering community collaboration.

High Commissioner Sinanyan commended the consistent support of the Décines-Charpieu City Hall and City Council for issues related to Armenia and the Armenian people.
They also discussed community-related challenges, potential solutions, and ways to actively engage youth.
Following the event, Zareh Sinanyan held a separate meeting with local Armenian youth, where he presented the programs, initiatives, and priorities of the High Commissioner’s Office and answered their questions and concerns.
