During the working visit to the Netherlands, the delegation of the NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations participated in a discussion at the Netherlands Institute for International Relations Clingendael, which was dedicated to Armenia’s foreign policy priorities.
The Head of the Security Unit of the Institute Bob Deen and the Senior Expert Marina Ohanjanyan highlighted the development of the strategic relations between Armenia and the Netherlands, as well as touched upon the regional and security problems.
During the discussion the Chair of the RA NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations Sargis Khandanyan, the Committee members Maria Karapetyan, Hripsime Grigoryan, Hasmik Hakobyan and the RA Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Netherlands Viktor Biyagov presented the details of the peace process between Armenia and Azerbaijan, as well as the RA relations with other states of the region. The deepening of Armenia-EU relations and the necessity for democratic states to support Armenia were emphasized.
In The Hague the Committee on Foreign Relations had also with the Netherlands Institute for Multiparty Democracy (NIMD) Rooseboom. During the meeting Tijmen Rooseboom spoke about the support programmes of the Institute for Multiparty Democracy, including the programmes underway in Armenia and their goals.

Issues referring to democratic education, political dialogue, youth involvement in political life, as well as the need to strengthen democratic institutions were discussed.
The NA delegation highlighted the support of the Netherlands to the democratic reform agenda of Armenia and presented our country’s steps towards regional peace.
During the visit the delegation of the NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations was hosted in the Netherlands Helsinki Committee.
The Committee’s programmes implemented in Armenia in the areas of human rights, public administration, justice and other areas were discussed with the Committee Executive Director Joeri Buhrer Tavanier.
During the meeting reference was made to the role and significance of civil societies, the positive possibilities for the civil society of Armenia after 2018 revolution.
The Chair of the NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations Sargis Khandanyan emphasized the work of the Committee and encourage the Committee to continue their work and cooperation with Armenia.
