The High Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs of the Republic of Armenia, Zareh Sinanyan, met with Scott Setrakian, representative of the William Saroyan Foundation, to discuss the Foundation’s upcoming initiatives and explore opportunities for cooperation.

At the center of the discussion was SaroyanDays, a week-long celebration to be held from September 4 to 11, dedicated to honoring the life, work, and enduring legacy of renowned Armenian-American writer and poet William Saroyan. The event will feature a diverse series of creative programs designed to engage broad audiences—especially young people—and to strengthen cultural ties across the global Armenian community.

Mr. Setrakian outlined the mission and ongoing work of the Foundation, emphasizing its commitment to preserving Saroyan’s legacy and making his works accessible to new generations. Particular attention was given to initiatives focused on youth engagement, cultural education, and community outreach—areas that align closely with the strategic priorities of the High Commissioner’s Office.
The meeting also served as a platform to explore mutual avenues of collaboration, including educational programming, joint cultural initiatives, and the potential for partnership with Armenian communities worldwide.

Zareh Sinanyan expressed appreciation for the Foundation’s efforts and reiterated the Armenian Government’s readiness to support projects that promote cultural heritage and foster meaningful engagement between the homeland and the diaspora.
