On World Refugee Day, the appeal of displaced Artsakh Armenians to the United Nations and the world

June 25,2025 00:05

Yerevan, June 20, 2025 — On World Refugee Day, Armenian intellectuals, teachers, and students forcibly displaced from Artsakh raised their voices to remind the international community of the plight of 150,000 Armenians who were deported and subjected to ethnic cleansing.

They are demanding the return of their millennia-old Homeland, their homes, hundreds of destroyed schools, dozens of universities and colleges, and thousands of churches and cultural monuments.
Flora Baghramyan – a writer and educator forcibly displaced from the village of Vank, Artsakh – testifies that they were compelled to flee under the real threat of genocide. In her message to the United Nations, she calls for the safe and dignified return of Artsakh Armenians to their Homeland, based on their right to self-determination.

Displaced teachers and students from Artsakh declare:
“We did not become refugees by choice, but by force. That is why we are not begging—we are demanding our Homeland.”
