The United States supports efforts aimed at promoting peace and stability in the South Caucasus and is closely monitoring developments on the ground. As reported by Armenpress, US State Department Spokesperson Tammy Bruce addressed the matter during a briefing with journalists, referring to existing projects aimed at unblocking transport communications in the region and the possibility of US involvement.
When asked whether Washington supports a recent statement by US Ambassador to Turkey Thomas Barrack regarding the prospects of opening communication routes in the South Caucasus, the spokesperson said the issue should be clarified with the White House to understand the presidential administration’s position.
Bruce reaffirmed the State Department’s support for initiatives that foster peace and stability in the region.
“We are following the events there. But I would like to know more for you, and we will do it,” she said.

A few days ago, Ambassador Barrack commented on the unblocking of communication routes in the South Caucasus, suggesting that, the United States could resolve the issue by leasing the road for 100 years, making it accessible to everyone. However, he noted that such a solution would not be feasible in the South Caucasus due to cultural differences.
