Ambassador Makunts was formally awarded the Kansas National Guard’s prestigious Medal of Excellence in recognition of her distinguished service. The medal was presented by Brigadier General Jason P. Nelson in a ceremony honoring her exceptional contributions to strengthening ties between Armenia and the United States.
The Medal of Excellence is one of the highest honors bestowed by the Kansas National Guard. Established in 1995, it is reserved for both military and civilian individuals who have demonstrated exceptionally meritorious service in positions of great responsibility or performed acts of heroism involving personal risk or voluntary danger. Recipients may include Guard members, civilians, former personnel, or even state and federal officials whose contributions significantly advance the Guard’s mission and values.
