Today, at the office of the Human Rights Union of Nagorno-Karabakh Refugees, a lecture was held by and Senior Researcher at the Mesrop Mashtots Institute of Ancient Manuscripts and PhD on Philology Tamara Minasyan, on the topic “The Manuscript Heritage of Artsakh.”
During the lecture, the rich manuscript heritage of Artsakh was presented, including the extensive collections of manuscripts preserved in the major scriptoriums of Artsakh such as Amaras, Gandzasar, Dadivank, Gtchavank, Yegishe Arakelots Monastery, Metzaranits St. Hakobavank, Avetaranots St. Gayane Kusants Anapat, and others. Special attention was given to the unique features of Artsakh miniatures, as well as the illustrations and scenes of the Gospels. The rich heritage of the Matenadaran of Gandzasar, the history of its exeptional specimens, was also presented.
The speaker presented not only the unique inscriptions of the colophons of Artsakh manuscripts, but also the codices for which Artsakh, with its scriptoriums, is considered a repository.
Furthermore, the speaker also talked about Azerbaijan’s attempts to appropriate the manuscript art of Artsakh, as well as the mechanisms of scientifically countering all these efforts.
