Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan met with Prime Minister of Japan Shigeru Ishiba in Kantei, Tokyo.
Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba welcomed Nikol Pashinyan’s visit to Japan, emphasizing that it is a good opportunity for the consistent development of Armenia-Japan relations and the deepening of mutually beneficial cooperation. He noted that Japan attaches great importance to the strengthening of friendly ties with Armenia and the implementation of joint initiatives in various fields. At the same time, Shigeru Ishiba welcomed the fact of the establishment of peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan, expressing hope that long-term and stable peace will be ensured in the region.

Prime Minister Pashinyan expressed gratitude for the warm hospitality, emphasizing that Armenia is ready to give new impetus to Armenia-Japan cooperation.
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan noted that Armenia attaches great importance to expanding cooperation with Japan, including in the economic sphere. He emphasized that a bilateral business forum is planned in the near future, which will truly contribute to the expansion of trade and economic ties. The Prime Minister expressed confidence that as a result, Japanese business investments in Armenia will significantly increase.
The Prime Minister also emphasized the importance of the cooperation established between Armenia and Japan in disaster prevention, human resources development, infrastructure, promotion of SMEs and other areas over the past years. The Prime Minister highly appreciated Japan’s involvement in Armenia over these years, including through development and technical assistance programs.
Nikol Pashinyan congratulated his counterpart on the successful hosting and holding of the EXPO 2025 World Exhibition. At the same time, the Prime Minister expressed gratitude for the support provided by Japan to Armenia’s participation in the exhibition. The parties highlighted this platform as a unique opportunity to promote Armenia-Japan cooperation.
During the meeting, the main directions of Armenia-Japan cooperation were discussed: the expansion of economic ties and investment cooperation, deepening ties in the fields of education, science and culture, and tourism.
The sides exchanged ideas on further steps to ensure regional peace and stability.
