On September 17, High Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs of the Republic of Armenia Zareh Sinanyan met with Joshua Russell, Senior Policy Analyst for Europe and Eurasia, and Naira Sultanyan, Director of the Democracy Development Foundation.

During the meeting, the initialing on August 8 in Washington, D.C. of the agreed text of the Agreement on Establishment of Peace and Inter-State Relations between the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan was discussed. The parties referred to the impact of this process on the diaspora, the next steps, as well as how the signing of the document is perceived by the diaspora. The High Commissioner presented Armenia’s political agenda, highlighting the importance of continued cooperation with the diaspora for the correct understanding and representation of the Republic of Armenia’s positions and initiatives.

The parties expressed hope that the agreement reached on the establishment of peace and inter-state relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan will lead to sustainable peace in the entire region and open new opportunities for expanding cooperation not only for Armenia, but also with neighboring countries.
