Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan attended the ceremonial session dedicated to the Investigative Committee Officer’s Day.

The Prime Minister congratulated Investigative Committee Chairman Artur Poghosyan and all the officers on their professional day and thanked everyone for the work done. According to Nikol Pashinyan, there is a methodological problem in the Investigative Committee, as well as in all other spheres, namely, to achieve an ideal state. According to the Prime Minister, some things in this methodology need to be changed, since on the path to striving for that ideal, there is a high probability of disappointment and despair. “We need to balance, understand that, however, no matter how much we strive for the ideal, we must first understand that we will not achieve it. We need to work clearly, systematically aimed at increasing efficiency, continuously increasing efficiency. It believe that the ideal or the idea of the ideal is that we should record at each subsequent stage that we are working more effectively, that we are detecting crimes more effectively, that we are preventing and deterring crimes more effectively,” the Prime Minister said.

Nikol Pashinyan emphasized the need for professionalism in terms of effective work and noted that it is also necessary to understand what professionalism means. In this context, Nikol Pashinyan emphasized the value, moral system, and courage. “In terms of personnel policy, education is, yes, very important, but in reality, I think that courage is also a matter of education, because courage also comes from whether a person understands what he is doing. Morality, in my opinion, is also something related to education.”

The Prime Minister noted that the greatest task of law enforcement agencies should be not only the detection of crimes, but also their prevention and deterrence. “The fact that the Investigative Committee plays a very important institutional role in protecting Armenia’s state, public security, and law and order is, of course, an obvious fact. In essence, we have completed the reforms of the investigative system, now we have two investigative bodies, and this is the second year that we have been working with this system. Now we need to observe and understand the process. I hope the time will come to reap the fruits, although it must be said that overall, of course, the impressions are positive,” said Nikol Pashinyan.

The Prime Minister also noted that one must have enough courage to go and confront, including with the shortcomings of the work carried out by state systems: “This, in my opinion, will further emphasize the advantages. We must also emphasize the shortcomings, and I am grateful that the Chairman of the Investigative Committee addressed this so that the public does not get the impression that the Government and the Investigative Committee are satisfied with the reality. No, we know all the problems.”

In conclusion, Nikol Pashinyan once again congratulated and thanked those present and their family members.

On the occasion of the Day of the Investigative Committee officer, a number of employees were awarded certificates of appreciation and commemorative medals from the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, and a valuable gift.
