Pashinyan and his party seem to have stopped time altogether, unwilling to acknowledge their own failures”. Arman Tatoyan

YEREVAN, 7 November 2025 — Armenia’s political reality appears frozen in time: the country’s leadership continues to ignore growing regional risks, notes Arman Tatoyan, Armenia’s former Human Rights Defender. NPolitical commentators argue that Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and his Civil Contract party “have not turned the calendar since 8 August,” referring to the date when an agreement signed in Washington was followed by renewed signs of tension across the South Caucasus.

“They say that even a broken clock shows the correct time twice a day. By the same logic, Pashinyan and his party seem to have stopped time altogether, unwilling to acknowledge their own failures,” told Arman Tatoyan.

Meanwhile, international media report that in Azerbaijan, the propaganda campaign built around the notion of “Western Azerbaijan” — a concept directed against Armenia — is gaining fresh momentum. According to newly published information, Azerbaijan’s 2026 state budget includes increased funding for such initiatives, prioritising organisations abroad that will coordinate conferences and events to promote the theme internationally.

In a reaction posted on social media, Arman Tatoyan said the development was “further proof that Baku continues to institutionalise a state-level ideology of Armenophobia and revanchism,” while Yerevan, he added, “persists in pretending that the problem does not concern it.”
