Vicken Euljeckjian’s lawyer María Luciana Minassian posted:
“Today marks five long years since Vicken Euljekjian was unjustly detained and sentenced in Azerbaijan — five years of suffering, resilience, and unwavering hope.
During these years behind bars, Vicken has endured unimaginable hardship. He has gone on three hunger strikes, risking his health and his life in a desperate plea for justice and dignity. He has been denied even the smallest of comforts — not even a simple packet of cigarettes — as his captors seek to break his spirit through cruelty and deprivation. Yet every day, Vicken endures. Every day, he holds on to the hope that he will one day see his loved ones again, breathe freely, and live the life that was stolen from him.
Vicken’s suffering stands as a stark reminder of the deep injustice still faced by all Armenian prisoners unlawfully held in Azerbaijan — innocent men punished simply for who they are. His strength, however, is proof that even in the darkest places, the human spirit cannot be silenced.
Five years is far too long. It is time for Vicken to come home.
We will not stop speaking his name, sharing his story, and demanding his freedom — until the day he walks free.”
