November 20,2025 10:46

Artak Beglaryan, President of the Artsakh Union, the former State Minister of the Republic of Artsakh and the third Human Rights Ombudsman, visited Denmark, Iceland, and the Faroe Islands on November 10–18 at the invitation of the Danish Mission10Forty organization, participating in a series of meetings, discussions, and public events.

More than 500 participants were presented with a brief history of Artsakh, the genocidal processes carried out in 2020–2023, the destruction of Artsakh’s spiritual and cultural heritage, evidence of torture against Armenian hostages, as well as the disrupted and severe humanitarian conditions of the displaced population. Artak Beglaryan also outlined the international legal basis for the right to return to the homeland and the urgent necessity of its implementation.

In his speeches, Artak Beglaryan emphasized the grave consequences of the international community’s silence and inaction, noting:

“The blindness and inaction of the civilized world allowed Azerbaijan to carry out a genocide against our people. Today the primary demand is the realization of the right to return to the homeland, as well as addressing the severe humanitarian situation of more than one hundred thousand displaced Artsakh Armenians refuged in Armenia. This is not a matter of charity, but of justice and rights.”

Kim Hartzner, the Managing Director of Mission10Forty, stressed in his remarks that the events in Artsakh place a universal and Christian moral responsibility on international institutions and societies, stating:

“The tragedy of Artsakh remains a test for the entire world, especially for Christian civilization. People are living in acute need, and we are obliged to continue our humanitarian and development programs until their dignity and fundamental rights are fully restored.”

During the events held in the Faroe Islands, Danish Parliament Member Sjúrður Skaale also delivered a speech, stating:

“What happened in September 2023 was a brutal ethnic cleansing of a territory and a hideous crime. But what followed was European political weakness—and even cowardice. One of the cradles of ancient European cultural heritage and Christian civilization was erased. Although there were some protests and expressions of support, the main reaction was a deafening silence which sent a clear message: we accept this.”

The events concluded with performances by Danish-Armenian pianist Irina Hayrapetyan, whose interpretations of Armenian and world classical music conveyed profound emotional and cultural depth, adding a spiritual and artistic dimension to the gatherings.
