Assembly of Bishops and Diocesan Ordinaries of Armenia Convenes at the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin
Under the presidency of His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, the Assembly of Bishops and Diocesan Ordinaries of Armenia was convened on 25 November 2025 at the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin.
The Assembly addressed the recent instances in which certain clergymen deliberately omitted the names of the Catholicos of All Armenians and the ruling diocesan bishop during the celebration of the Holy and Immortal Liturgy.
The episcopal body declared such conduct reprehensible, observing that, from an ecclesiological perspective, it is uncanonical and may lead to schism. It was further emphasized that these actions are subject to the strictest disciplinary measures should the clergyman fail to manifest true repentance and duly amend his uncanonical conduct in accordance with the prescribed ecclesiastical norms.
