Hayastan All-Armenian Fund Launches 2025 Fundraising Campaign for the Reconstruction of the Spandaryan Canal

December 04,2025 16:49

The Hayastan All-Armenian Fund, together with its local partner organisations, has launched the “Homeland and Eternity” fundraising campaign. Now in its 33rd year, the initiative once again brings together Armenians across the world. This year, the campaign will focus on the reconstruction of the damaged sections of the Spandaryan Canal in the Syunik province.

The “Homeland and Eternity” campaign is being presented to the public in a new format. The traditional telethon has been replaced with a series of reflections and conversations about the notion of homeland, featuring prominent public and cultural figures. As part of these discussions, three motivational video messages were aired, conveying the Fund’s renewed vision of unity and the enduring idea of homeland. The films were shot in Syunik and in the basin of the Spandaryan Canal and reservoir.

“The Spandaryan Canal in the Syunik region begins at an altitude of 2,280 metres. It is currently up to 70% damaged, leaving a number of settlements without irrigation water. Support the reconstruction of the Spandaryan Canal. Help preserve our country’s water resources – today, not tomorrow,” states the video message, which has gained significant support, particularly among younger Armenians. Dozens of organisations have already joined the campaign and made contributions.
The reconstruction of the Spandaryan Canal is of vital importance for the communities of Sarnakunq, Ishkhanasar, Tsghuk, Spandaryan, Angeghakot and Shaki. A total of 730 families (4,320 residents) will directly benefit from the project, and 2,800 hectares of land will be effectively irrigated, supporting an ecosystem with strong potential for economic development.
In late November, as part of the campaign, the President of the Republic of Armenia and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Hayastan All-Armenian Fund, Vahagn Khachaturyan, met with representatives of Armenia’s banking sector and major enterprises. During the meeting, the Fund’s team presented its recent projects, while the importance of the Spandaryan Canal reconstruction was highlighted by the Chairman of the Central Bank, Martin Galstyan, the Chairman of the Union of Banks of Armenia, Daniel Azatyan, and the Chairman of the Union of Industrialists and Businessmen, Arsen Ghazaryan.

Public Television of Armenia has provided significant support to the campaign and to the promotion of the Spandaryan Canal reconstruction programme. The campaign concept and video films were developed by the communications company AxelMondrian.
Since the restoration of Armenia’s independence, the Hayastan All-Armenian Fund has served as the first organisation to unite the homeland and the diaspora. Each November, it mobilises Armenians worldwide to contribute to the reconstruction, preservation and development of Armenia. The Fund identifies urgent challenges, initiates targeted programmes, and works to improve the quality of life across the country.

To date, the Fund has brought together more than 1.5 million Armenians, investing over USD 500 million in more than 1,500 projects. Beginning in 2024, the Fund will transition to programme-based fundraising, ensuring greater efficiency, transparency and accountability. This year’s campaign will last one month, with results to be presented in a comprehensive report upon completion.
