Ambassador Grigor Hakobyan met with Ali Akbar Velayati, Advisor to the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution on International Affairs. Touching upon Armenia-Iran bilateral relations, the interlocutors emphasized the historical and strategic nature of these relations and the mutual will to further deepen them.
During the meeting, the Armenian Ambassador presented the advisor to the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran with the latest developments in the peace process between Armenia and Azerbaijan. Ali Akbar Velayati welcomed the efforts aimed at normalizing relations between the two neighboring states and stabilizing the region.
Referring to the process of unblocking the region’s communication routes, Hakobyan emphasized that the “TRIP Road” will be implemented based on the principles of territorial integrity, sovereignty, jurisdiction and reciprocity of states and will create broad opportunities for the interconnection and economic development of the region.
The Armenian Ambassador reaffirmed that Yerevan highly appreciates Tehran’s unequivocal position on unconditionally respecting the above-mentioned principles and reciprocally takes into account the security and political sensitivities of friendly Iran.
