A consultation was held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on the effective management of water resources and systems.
Aramazd Ghalamkaryan, Chairman of the Water Committee of the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure, reported on the challenges in the sector and their short-term and long-term solutions.
Details were presented on issues related to the management, planning, forecasts, and modernization of infrastructure in the water sector. Aramazd Ghalamkaryan also reported on the measures for managing irrigation water supply and demand in 2026, which will include integrated interdepartmental coordination and harmonization, unified management of water flows and discharges, revision of the irrigation water supply-demand methodology, revision of irrigation regimes and standards, strengthening of pumping stations, etc. Reports were also made on reservoir filling rates, water abstraction from Lake Sevan and other main sources, and irrigation system indicators.
The results of studies conducted in the Ararat artesian basin and the steps taken to solve existing problems, the state of the current water resources monitoring infrastructure, and the programs for its re-equipment and modernization were discussed.

Prime Minister Pashinyan considered it necessary to implement institutional reforms in the sector, which should be aimed at sustainable, effective and integrated management of water resources and systems.
