At a Dublin service opening the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, Bishop Hovakim Manukyan called Christians to live out unity and stand for justice.
Highlighting ongoing suffering, he spoke of Armenians forcibly displaced from Artsakh and the 19 Armenian hostages imprisoned in Azerbaijan, where Bibles and religious symbols have been confiscated. “Their silence cries out to heaven. Their suffering is not forgotten by God,” he said.
Bishop Hovakim also thanked Irish churches for welcoming Armenian refugee families, calling it “the Gospel lived.” The service brought together leaders from 12 Christian traditions, united in prayer for peace, justice, and all those affected by conflict.
“Unity begins in action. Pray for those imprisoned. Stand for justice. Live the Gospel.”
