On January 23, the Deputy Chair of the RA NA Standing Committee on Protection of Human Rights and Public Affairs Rustam Bakoyan, the members of the Committee Marina Ghazaryan and Ester Ayvazyan met with the representatives of the Transparency International Anti-Corruption Center (TIAC) NGO.
First, the members of the TIAC presented the work of their organization, aimed, in particular, at ensuring an enabling environment for civil society through appropriate tools.
At the meeting the importance of civil society participation in the decision-making and law-making process was underscored. The issue of introducing institutional mechanisms aimed at promoting public participation, especially in the draft laws authored by the deputies, was discussed. In this context, the effective experience of a number of countries was presented, and it was emphasized that the EU has different models in this regard.
Rustam Bakoyan underlined that the Committee led by him is always open to cooperation with civil society partners. The Deputy Chair of the Committee emphasized the effective collaboration with public sector in the legislative work and the important observations of the latter in developing the draft law.
