On February 4 of this year, members of the Swiss National Council—Erich Fontobelle and Stefan Müller-Altermatt—as well as John Eibner, President of the human rights organization Christian Solidarity International (CSI), visited the Permanent Representation of Artsakh in the Republic of Armenia. The delegation was accompanied by representatives of the same organization, Joel Veldkamp and Peter Fuchs.
The guests were received under the leadership of the Acting President of the Republic of Artsakh and President of the National Assembly, Ashot Danielyan, together with the Vice President of the National Assembly Gagik Bagunts, the heads of the parliamentary factions, the Human Rights Defender of Artsakh, and a representative of the Committee for the Protection of the Rights of the People of Artsakh.
At the beginning of the meeting, Ashot Danielyan awarded Erich Fontobelle with the “Gratitude” Medal of the Republic of Artsakh and presented certificates of appreciation to Stefan Müller-Altermatt and John Eibner.
Ashot Danielyan outlined the political direction of the efforts aimed at restoring the rights of the people of Artsakh and also addressed the overall social and psychological situation of the population.

Erich Fontobelle and Stefan Müller-Altermatt presented the progress of the implementation of the motion adopted in 2025 by both chambers of the Swiss Parliament entitled “Peace Forum for Nagorno-Karabakh: Ensuring the Possibility of the Return of Armenians”, as well as the work being carried out in that direction.
The participants exchanged views on bilateral cooperation and on the steps planned for the implementation of future programs.
