Armenia, as a new member of the Executive Board, took part in the First Regular Session of the UNDP/UNFPA/UNOPS Executive Board. Armenia’s Permanent Representative, Ambassador Paruyr Hovhannisyan, delivered statements on the UN80 initiative and in dialogues with the UNDP Administrator and the Executive Director of UNFPA.
Armenia stressed that UN reform should be Member State-driven, practical and evidence-based, strengthening efficiency and impact while ensuring reliable support for programme countries. Reforms should deliver tangible, on-the-ground results aligned with national priorities. UNDP’s central role in delivering integrated and responsive development solutions, particularly for countries in special situations and middle-income countries, was underscored.
Ambassador Hovhannisyan also reaffirmed Armenia’s support for UNFPA’s work, particularly in providing life-saving assistance in humanitarian and development contexts. Armenia values UNFPA’s work to empower women and youth, combat gender-based violence, advance disability inclusion, and support vulnerable groups.
