Statement of the «Mother Armenia» Movement on the occasion of the visit of U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance to Armenia
Dear Mr. Vance,
Welcome to Armenia.
We positively assess Armenian–American relations and expect their further development on a mutually beneficial basis.
We welcome the efforts of U.S. President Trump aimed at regulating Armenian–Azerbaijani relations.
At the same time, we would like to emphasize that the normalization of Armenian–Azerbaijani relations and the establishment of real peace require the formation of an atmosphere of mutual respect and trust. One important step toward this would be the release of the military and political leadership of Artsakh and other detained persons held in Baku’s prisons, and their return to Armenia.
Mr. Vance,
If the United States sincerely seeks positive progress in Armenian–Azerbaijani relations, then during your visit to Baku, the issue of Armenian prisoners must be raised, and a just solution must be achieved.

It is also important that the spiritual and cultural heritage in the territories of Artsakh now under Azerbaijani control does not fall victim to vandalism and that our Christian churches are not destroyed.

We know that President Trump presents himself worldwide as a defender of Christian values and religious freedoms. It is also well known that the United States is an advocate for the protection of human rights and democratic values.
We call on you, during meetings with the authorities of Armenia, to raise the issue of the Armenian Apostolic Holy Church—our Church—its respected clergy who are subjected to unlawful persecution, as well as other individuals facing political persecution.
«Mother Armenia» is convinced that Armenia’s internal problems must be resolved by ourselves. In this context, your position is important from a value-based perspective. Our views are identical when it comes to defending traditional values and rejecting anti-national globalism.
Values require protection. Leadership demands consistency and commitment. Words and actions must correspond.
