February 24,2026 14:51

The Armenian Museum of Fresno hosted an exceptional cultural evening, bringing together community members and guests for the screening of the new documentary film “Syunik: The Last Border.”

Directed by Ashot Poghosyan and produced by Dr. Sargis Mesrobian, the film presented Syunik’s historical journey and its civilizational and strategic significance, as well as the hardships and security challenges the region faces as one of the foundational cradles of Armenia and Armenian identity.

The documentary also underscored Syunik’s extraordinary beauty and incomparable natural environment, highlighting the region’s natural, cultural, and spiritual character.

Through striking aerial cinematography and richly detailed visuals, the film brought Syunik vividly to life on screen – showcasing its magnificent landscapes, sacred sites, and heritage, as well as archaeological discoveries dating back more than 10,000 years. For the audience, the screening became not only an informative experience, but also a unifying one, reaffirming Syunik’s vital importance to Armenians worldwide.

Prior to the screening, guests had the opportunity to view two special selections from our WhoShare Memories series, dedicated to the remembrance of Fresno’s first Armenian residents and the preservation of the community’s heritage.

Armenian Museum of Fresno Director Varoujan Der-Simonian expressed gratitude to all attendees for sharing in this memorable evening and for continuing to uphold the value of history, heritage, and the art of storytelling. “We will continue to organize screenings, gatherings, and educational and cultural programs that connect generations, strengthen identity, and breathe new life into our community’s memory,” he emphasized.

The Armenian Museum of Fresno is a pan-Armenian cultural center whose mission is to preserve, study, and promote Armenian history and cultural heritage through exhibitions, public programs, and archival work.
