Sinanyan in France holds meetings with Forbach Mayor and IRA Metz leadership, discusses cooperation prospects

The High Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs of the Republic of Armenia, Zareh Sinanyan, is on a working visit to France.

On April 22, as part of his visit, he visited the French National Institute for Territorial Studies (IRA) in Metz, where he met with the Institute’s Director, Jean-Marc Sire, and members of staff.

During the meeting, the High Commissioner was introduced to the Institute’s activities and toured its resource center. Prospects for potential cooperation with Armenia were also discussed.

Later in the day, he traveled to the city of Forbach, where he met with Mayor Alexandre Cassaro.

During the meeting, the High Commissioner congratulated the Mayor on his re-election and expressed his gratitude for the continued support extended to the Armenian community, emphasizing its importance for the community’s social integration and development.

The parties highlighted the role of the Armenian community in France particularly in Forbach as a successful example of integration, where cultural and linguistic barriers are overcome while preserving national identity.

They also addressed the continued development of Armenian-French decentralized cooperation, emphasizing the importance of strengthening ties between Forbach and communities in Armenia.

The High Commissioner noted that his Office serves as an effective institutional bridge between the Armenian community in France and Armenia, contributing to the expansion of cooperation in cultural, educational, and social spheres.

During the visit, he signed the guestbook of honor at Forbach City Hall.

Following the meeting at City Hall, the High Commissioner met with representatives of the Armenian community of Forbach, presenting the Office’s activities and ongoing programs, followed by a Q&A session.

The questions primarily focused on Armenia’s security, Armenian-French cooperation, repatriation, the development and strengthening of ties with diaspora communities, as well as Armenia’s socio-economic development priorities.
