May 13,2026 12:34

Preparations regarding the initiation of direct trade with Armenia have been completed: Turkish Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Oncu Keceli noted on the “X” platform.

He wrote: «Within the framework of our normalization process with Armenia that has been ongoing since 2022, as part of the confidence-building measures taken, the bureaucratic preparations regarding the initiation of direct trade between our country and Armenia have been completed as of May 11, 2026.

The necessary technical and bureaucratic work toward opening the common border between the two countries is still ongoing.

Thanks to the new regulation that has been put into effect, it has become possible for goods traveling from Türkiye to a third country and then to Armenia, or arriving via the same route, to have their final destination or point of exit indicated as “Armenia/Türkiye.”

In the light of the historic opportunity seized to strengthen lasting peace and prosperity in the South Caucasus, Türkiye will continue to contribute to the development of economic relations in the region and to further advancing cooperation for the benefit of all countries and peoples of the region.»
