TASS. The World Health Organization (WHO) has declared a public health emergency of international concern over Ebola spread in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Uganda.
“The director general of the World Health Organization (WHO), after having consulted the states parties <…> is hereby determining that the Ebola disease caused by Bundibugyo virus in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Uganda constitutes a public health emergency of international concern (PHEIC), but does not meet the criteria of pandemic emergency,” the WHO said in a statement.
According to the organization, “there are significant uncertainties to the true number of infected persons and geographic spread associated with this event at the present time.”
