On July 6, during her working visit to Strasbourg, the Human Rights Defender of the Republic of Armenia, Ms. Anahit Manasyan met with the European Ombudsman, Ms. Teresa Anjinho.
During the meeting, the parties discussed a number of issues related to the protection of human rights and of mutual interest.
The parties also referred to the importance of safeguarding the guarantees of independence of National Human Rights Institutions, emphasizing the key nature of the independence of the Human Rights Defender institutions, the inadmissibility of any form of interference with the activities of the Human Rights Defender, as well as the unacceptability of legislative regulations and law enforcement practices that create the possibility of such interference from the perspective of international standards.
Ms. Anahit Manasyan and Ms. Teresa Anjinho reaffirmed their readiness to further expand cooperation and deepen the ties between two institutions, emphasizing the key role of international partnership in the field of human rights protection.
