The President of the RA National Assembly Ruben Rubinyan had a telephone conversation with the Speaker of the Federal Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Valentina Matvienko.
The interlocutors discussed issues regarding the agenda of inter-parliamentary cooperation between Armenia and Russia, underscoring the importance of continuity of parliamentary dialogue and cooperation on issues of mutual interest.
Reference was also made to a number of issues of the current stage of bilateral relations between Armenia and Russia. Ruben Rubinyan noted that the unjustified restrictions on the export of Armenian goods to the Russian Federation are of concern and emphasized the solution of the problem within the framework of the legal and contractual framework between the two countries and the regulations of the Eurasian Economic Union.
The agenda of relations between the Republic of Armenia and the European Union was also discussed. Ruben Rubinyan noted that the holding of a referendum on membership in the Republic of Armenia to the European Union, being expected by the Russian Federation, may become practically possible only after Armenia submits an official application to the European Union and enters the substantive stage of the process.

The interlocutors reaffirmed their willingness to continue the open dialogue with the aim of further developing inter-parliamentary cooperation and strengthening mutual understanding on issues on the bilateral agenda.
