Reception Dedicated to Armenia’s 35th Independence Anniversary Held in Luxembourg

On September 30, a reception dedicated to the 35th anniversary of the independence of the Republic of Armenia took place in Luxembourg.

The event was attended by representatives of Luxembourg’s state institutions and parliament; heads and diplomats of diplomatic missions accredited in Luxembourg; representatives of European and international organizations, the business, academic, and civil society sectors, and the media; as well as members of the Armenian community.

The national anthems of the Republic of Armenia and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg were performed by the Helvetia choir.

Ambassador Tigran Balayan delivered welcoming remarks. In his remarks, the Ambassador reflected on Armenia’s 35-year journey of independence, emphasizing that independence is not merely a historical achievement but also an ongoing process and a daily choice to independently shape one’s own future.

Addressing Armenia-Luxembourg relations, the Ambassador highlighted the tangible progress made in recent years, including the signing of the declaration on strategic partnership between Armenia and Luxembourg, the opening of the Armenian Embassy office in Luxembourg, the intensification of political dialogue and parliamentary ties, the development of cooperation in the defense sector, and the deepening of connections between the communities and cities of the two countries. He also underscored Luxembourg’s participation in the European Union mission as a practical demonstration of support for peace and stability in Armenia’s region. Ambassador Balayan expressed special gratitude to the Chamber of Deputies of Luxembourg for the consistent support shown to Armenia, highlighting the resolutions adopted by the Chamber regarding issues of importance to Armenia and the special nature of Armenian-Luxembourgish parliamentary ties.

Touching upon the further development of bilateral relations, the Ambassador pointed out the significant potential in the fields of trade, investment, high technology, the space sector, artificial intelligence, tourism, education, science, and culture.

Ambassador Balayan also emphasized the shared aspiration of Armenia and Luxembourg to turn geography into opportunity, noting that Armenia aims to transform its region into a crossroads of peace, connectivity, and economic and human exchanges. Ambassador Balayan expressed gratitude to the authorities of Luxembourg for the consistent support shown to Armenia and the Armenian people, and for their commitment to developing the partnership between the two countries.
