At the UN General Assembly’s Second and Fifth Committees, Ambassador Paruyr Hovhannisyan, Permanent Representative of Armenia, highlighted Armenia’s commitment to financing sustainable development and ensuring that the United Nations has the resources and capacity to deliver on its mandates.
In the Second Committee, he emphasized development financing that reflects countries’ vulnerabilities, support for middle-income and landlocked developing countries, regional connectivity, and Armenia’s priorities as host and incoming Presidency of COP17.
In the Fifth Committee, he reaffirmed Armenia’s longstanding record of paying its assessed contributions in full and on time, and called for predictable financing and transparent, evidence-based reforms that strengthen the UN’s effectiveness and accountability.
