The newly built manuscript repository and archives have been inaugurated at Bzommar Monastery. This significant event marks an important milestone in the development of scientific and cultural cooperation between the Mesrop Mashtots Matenadaran and Bzommar Monastery.
The opening ceremony was presided over by His Beatitude Raphaël Bedros XXI Minassian, Armenian Catholic Catholicos-Patriarch of Cilicia. Those attending included Matenadaran Director Ara Khzmalyan, Deputy Director Vahe Torosyan, members of the institution’s staff, and representatives of religious, government, and cultural circles.
Matenadaran’s professional support played an important role in establishing the new manuscript repository and archives. The advice and expertise of its conservation specialists helped create the conditions necessary for preserving the manuscript heritage.
During the ceremony, Matenadaran Director Ara Khzmalyan emphasized the historic significance of the results achieved through the mutual trust and professional cooperation developed between the two institutions over the past three years. He reaffirmed Matenadaran’s commitment to applying its scholarly resources and professional expertise to the study, restoration, and preservation of manuscript heritage held in the spiritual and cultural centers of the Armenian Diaspora.
