At the instruction of Human Rights Defender Anahit Manasyan, representatives of the Defender’s Office conducted another visit to Nubarashen Penitentiary Institution.
Private interviews were held with persons deprived of their liberty, including Ashot Badalyan, who has been on a prolonged hunger strike.
The representatives examined issues concerning the protection of their rights, their health status, access to necessary medical care, and adequate medical supervision.
While recognising that going on a hunger strike is an individual’s right, the Defender’s representatives urged Ashot Badalyan to end his hunger strike, given its prolonged duration and the potential adverse effects on his health.
