\”THIS IS OUR VICTORY AND THE REGIME\’S INEVITABLE DEFEAT\”

RA First President Levon Ter-Petrosyan declared in the Freedom Square after the opposition\’s meeting-procession.

It was cold in Yerevan yesterday(-12). Anyway, the mass meeting invited by RA First President and presidential candidate Levon Ter-Petrosyan and his adherents was very crowded, even in comparison with the autumn mass meetings. The citizens came with the following posters: “The Armenian nation is awaked”, “Talin region is with Ter-Petrosyan”, “Victory” etc. Former and current officials of state structures were also present in the mass meeting. Nikol Pashinyan who was conducting the meeting, spoke about Levon Ter-Petrosyan\’s visit on January 21within the framework of pre-electoral campaign, saying that RA First President\’s warm receptions proved that Ter-Petrosyan is not only the joint candidate of the opposition but our people\’s as well. The gathered people cried: “We will win”.
Yesterday meeting was shorter than the previous ones because of cold weather. “Republic” Party Leader Aram Sargsyan who was sure that the gathered people will vote for Levon Ter-Petrosyan because the politician like Ter-Petrosyan first of all wins by his spirit, then goes to vote to confirm his victory”.
The RA First President finished the mass meeting as usual. “Dear compatriots among my numeral mistakes ( a man opposed to this remark crying “you haven\’t made any mistake”-N.M.) the greatest is that I sent in my resignation on February 3, that\’s why the campaign is hold in this cold period. The First President noted: “we have reached a period where the words are over, and the works start”. In his opinion, everything has already been said about the RA current regime, destructive prospect of its rehabilitation and necessity to avoid of it. “I have tried for three months to prove that Robert Kocharyan\’s and Serge Sargsyan\’s leading authority is a thief, band, anti-people authority, and its criminal activities throw Armenia in social, political, economic poorest situation. I have tried to prove that its rehabilitation will lead our country to the unavoidable destruction, that there is a real chance to avoid of that sad prospect and build a normal country”. Noting that Serge Sargsyan doesn\’t have electorate in Armenia “hopes to win by administrative resource, electoral frauds, violence and electoral bribes”, but also assured that those are surmountable obstacles. Mr. Ter-Petrosyan also said that everything depends on people\’s willingness and decisiveness. “Thousands of my adherents and me are ready to serve in favor of national-liberal struggle, we are ready to make any effort, any contribution, suffer privations in favor of Armenia\’s bright future”, – Ter-Petrosyan declared and read Armenian famous poet Eghishe Charents\’ poem “Vision of Death”. He also said that if the spirit of that poem inspire our people “no criminals, no obstacles will stop our triumphal process, and Kocharyan-Serge miserable regime will be thrown to the bin of the history.”
The procession by the following route Mashtots Avenue-Republic Square-Sayat-Nova-Freedom square led by Levon Ter-Petrosyan succeed the meeting. People from bus stops were joining the procession, people from shops or cafes were greeting the participants of the procession at list with wide smiles. Other citizens were greeting the participants from the windows of their flats. Several officials from the Foreign Ministry also greeted the participants when they crying in front of the Government Building “Serzhik, resign”. For several participants the procession reminded the launch of the movement in 1988. The procession was over in the Freedom Square where Levon Ter-Petrosyan concluded his speech: “This is our victory and the inevitable defeat of the regime. I want to thank to all of you. God be with you, good night”.
