March 03,2014 18:52

In the conversation with Aravot.am, political analyst Sergey Minasyan, answering the question of what outcome he sees associated with the actions carried out by Russia to Ukraine, said, “I think Russia would hard go for amnesty. The goals that Russia is trying to solve, in addition that it shows its teeth, is to achieve the status of broad federation or confederation for Crimea, naturally, by maintaining the constant base of the Black Sea fleet, also, in some way, form the process of Ukrainian federalization. Naturally, along with this, it is clear that Russia, which took this step, it was also an attempt to hinder the process of Ukraine to go to the West. However, in parallel, we must understand that in 3-4 months, especially after the new revolution, Ukraine is in rather difficult situation, when the government agencies do not operate at the national level, it is a collapse, and Russia is taking the opportunity.” As said by Sergey Minasyan, it is clear that the intervention of the West in the form of military is not possible, as for the economic and personal sanctions, it is still a questions of whom they will refer, Russia or the European Union. In addition, Sergey Minasyan believes that Russia would hardly step up a war or pursue a goal to enter with a large scale of troops. “I believe what Russia wanted to do, already did it, now the process of negotiations will begin, and Russia will use the factor of Russian-speaking population. But, the situation from Russia and the West has calmed down after the first shock.”
