The co-author of “Farajanov” film, Elena Fetisova, announced that she will not participate in the ceremony of awarding RA State Prize, also, she is refusing the State Prize awarded to the film because of our country’s political position about Crimea.
As conveyed by Comments.ua website, the Fetisova has asked to deliver her due money reward for the needs of Armenian orphans, stressing that Parajanov would also do that. According to the same source, in the open letter to Serzh Sargsyan, she has complained, “You called the Crimean referendum “the next in turn example of exercising the right to self-determination through free expression of will, whereas the Ukrainian citizens believe that is is a violation of the international law and European values.” Aravot.am asked the Director of Sergei Parajanov house-Museum Zaven Sargsyan to comment on the move of the Ukrainian artist, and telling of how much he agrees with her statement that Parajanov would do the same. “I think Parajanov would do exactly the same, he would not take the prize. However, I also understand the position of Armenia, because eventually every country has its own interests. I also understand that what Russians did was not something good, they behaved as if the Soviet Union still exists. On the other hand, it has been 25 years since Karabakh has been self-determined, and Russians do not see it … I was not in the city and I am not very well aware of the state position of Armenia whether it has officially approved the deeds of Russia, I do not know. In fact, Ukraine is also keeping quiet about Artsakh for 25 years, and has been always next to Azerbaijan: immunity of borders and so on.
As for Fetisova, as a Ukraine citizen, she did what every Armenian would do in the same situation,” said the Director of Parajanov museum.
