“The enemy attacks from several directions.” Vardan Devrikyan

January 26,2015 13:32

“The situation is concerning from three sides. First, the enemy attacks from several directions. This means to concentrate the forces and the technique for the attack, and this means that they have this sufficient resources and are not afraid of any escalation of the situation. In addition, there is also a long-range war by snipers. What are these subversive actions by several directions called? This is just an attack. It is almost like a resumption of military operation, when a person on your positions enters into direct contact with the opponent,” such assessment was expressed by Deputy Director of National Institute of Literature, also LDU member Vardan Devrikyan, today, on January 24, in the conversation with Aravot.am, referring to the last days’ tense situation on the border zone.

According to him, the only way to make the opponent silent is the losses caused to it, but the primary issue for us is not to have any losses in soldier. “The war paradox is that no matter you are a writer or an intellectual, if you are attacked, the only way to make it silent is making the opponent suffer losses.” According to Vardan Devrikyan, the Armenian army took this very way and judging by the release of the defense ministry, gave a serious counterblow. “This will have a turning and crucial importance both for the enemy as a deterrent and will convey a great self-confidence to our soldiers. This makes our soldiers to be martially stronger.”

Vardan Devrikyan explained that when going to military operations, there is one nuance, the most difficult is the first 20 minutes, which is a kind of baptism in combat. “You get this baptism even if the whole world goes against you, the whole world fire capacity is aimed at destroying you, and a sort of fear surrounds you, but the soldier falls into a unique element, an excitement. Of course, waging war is not fun, but if the opponent tries to make attempts of promotion, thereby it gives a combat baptism to the soldiers of the front line.”

Note that today, the Minister of Defense Seyran Ohanyan has said that the Azerbaijani side had three times more losses. The Defense Ministry spokesperson Artsrun Hovhannisyan made a post on his Facebook page that today, close to 12:00 a.m., the opponent initiated a subversive offensive action again against some of the combat positions of Berd region, Tavush Marz, a group from the Armenian position guards and noticed it and the fight started, during which the Azerbaijani unit is almost destroyed, and the Armenian units suffered no losses. According to Vardan Devrikyan, in the results of these attempts, the Armenian soldiers are “baptized” and become stronger.

To our question that you said that Azerbaijan is attacking from different directions, which means resumption of military operations, so whether there is reason to panic, Vardan Devrikyan replied, “Hey, we’re not a rabbit to get into a panic. The attach should make us united and focused. What does panic mean? The question is wrong. Panic may occur somewhere far from the war site, but not in the border zone. Concern may arise with parents whose children are in the positions. It is completely understandable. But there is no sentiment to get into a panic. What does it mean your borders are attacked and you are in panic? But so many war years that we have passed, we are psychologically changed, we have been changed from being slaughtered like sheep. There should be no panic. We need to be well-organized to back up. People in the border villages do not say, oops, let’s abandon and run away. The main question that occurs in border villages is to have a weapon to feel more comfortable.”
