The world famous Armenian boxer presents his success formula

Exactly one week ago, on this day, the world-famous Armenian boxer Arthur Abraham overthrew Paul Smith in the Berlin match and retained the world champion title. Today, in the series of its new “Success Formula” weekly, “Aravot” spoke with Arthur Abraham identifying the challenges overcome by the world famous boxer and his formulas on the way to success. Before becoming a boxer, Arthur Abraham studied at the cycle-school in the neighborhood of the Yerevan circus building, and has become a multi-champion of Armenia for cycling. He began boxing after moving to Germany. “In 1995, I moved from Yerevan to the city of Bamberg, Germany, with my brother Alex Abraham. I was engaged in amateur boxing first there and later in Nuremberg. In 1997, I became a German amateur boxing champion. Thus, slowly-slowly, I began my path to boxing. One beautiful day, my trainer Ulli Wegner, seeing my abilities at the sparing fights made an offer to cooperate. In 2003, I signed a contract with well-known coach Wilfried Sauerland starting my professional career,” tells the Armenian boxer. He has felt the first, the sweetest taste of the victory on December 10, 2005, when he won the Nigerian Kingsli Ikeke, winning the IBF world champion title. The subsequent constantly following success did not change the fundamental principles in his life: honesty, diligence, will, and faith are his companions on the way to success.

Speaking of his defeats in the ring in the past, Arthur Abraham says frankly that they cannot be overcome. “My trainer says that nothing is older than yesterday’s victory. Yes, victory is forgotten soon, but the mood left after the defeat lives longer. In any case, the defeat is also manly and one should never be disappointed, saddened and downhearted, but on the contrary, keep fighting and winning.” Each fight is a great achievement and success for Arthur Abraham, resulting in achievement or ability to maintain the world champion title. “The ways of these victories are not easy, they are months-long daily hard trainings, without which no athlete can reach success.” During all these time, first of all him family – parents and the brother, and then also his trainer Ulli Wegner and manager Wilfried Sauerland were constantly beside him, helped and believed in him. “Their very efforts and advice have made me reach where I am now,” says Arthur Abraham. Victory in life and in the ring: the world-famous boxer is a little puzzled, he says that the principles, approaches and the temp in the ring are different. “But life is also a ring in somewhere… Both in the ring and in the life I try to be honest, I never underestimate my opponents and their chances, but I do not overestimate either. I focused on my goal and move towards winning.” Arthur Abraham’s success formula is clear: hardworking, confidence in own strength and love towards the work he does.
