Do not jump at the bait

Again, the Russian elite began to activate the talks that the 1921 Moscow Treaty should be cancelled. Interestingly that this time, the Communist from the State Duma Deputies has talked about it, the representative of the same political party whose created the illegitimate “RSFSR” is in favor of this agreement. The prominent figures of the same political party: Askanaz Mravyan and Poghos Makintsyan were the ones who signed the Kars agreement incurred from it (legally, on behalf of similarly obscure “Armenian SSR”). It must be said that on the background of the recent escalation of the Russian-Turkish relations, various representatives of the Russian political spectrum are making statements on cancelling the Moscow agreement, including Navalny and Zhirinovsky. All the politicians in this country are unanimous in terms of right or wrong understood state interests.

Russia’s state interests, I think, really requires blackmailing Turkey and manipulating all the “play cards”, including Armenian. This does not mean at all that Russia truly intends to ever extend this ill-fated agreement, this is just another leverage eventually “to make peace” with Turkey for better and more favorable positions. And this is going to happen sooner or later, let no one doubt. It is a bit similar to Armenia’s (and any other country’s) domestic life processes. If someone of the opposition front is too much flamboyant, know that it is very likely that he wants to “gain credits” to become a part of the ruling coalition.

In short, the reasons for such statements by Russian politicians are clear, it is a natural political phenomenon. The enthusiasm of some Armenians and their assumptions about the thing that are unlikely to happen is not clear. If Russia is planning to do something good to us for “our beautiful eyes”, then let’s ask the leadership of this country not to impede the diversification of Armenia’s economic and political ties.

Do you think that we are just so naive only about Russia? No, about the United States too.  This country is going to hold presidential elections this fall, and a part of Armenians there is oriented by the fact of who will say what about the Armenian Genocide. But what it costs “saying” it if, anyway, after becoming a president, this figure will take his word back. Hence, dear American-Armenians, orient yourself by other standards.

… Incidentally, Poghos Makintsyan is also an advocate of Armenian spelling in Latin letters. A part of today’s Armenian youth is “fulfilling” this dream of the ardent Bolshevik on the Internet.
