The first discussion of the “European Club” took place in Robert Schuman hall

On 3 May 2016 the inauguration and the first discussion of the “European Club”took place in Robert Schuman hall of the Centre for European Studies. Ambassador Piotr Switalski, Head of EU Delegation and the director of the Centre, Mr. Artur Ghazinyan delivered welcome speeches.

The European Club is established by the Centre for European Studies of Yerevan State University in collaboration with the EU Delegation in Armenia. The European Club aims to bring together academia and experts from Armenian and European universities, think tanks to inspire and facilitate quality discussions and debates over the range of relevant issues of the international and regional policies and the EU policy in the South Caucasus and Armenia in particular. Well known experts are invited as speakers of discussions. The discussions are held under Chatham House rules, i.e. ‘off the record’.

The first debate was devoted to “Perspectives of convergence and clash of EU and Russia geopolitical and geo-economic interests”.

Representatives of EU Delegation, Diplomatic corps, state, international and non-governmental organizations, think tanks, experts, students, researchers and media were invited to the event.
