“There is no need to ask for Russia’s permission for using Iskander”.  Colonel Gabrielyan

There is no need to ask a permission from Russia for using “Iskander” during the hostilities.  To apply or not, this question is decided by the Government of Armenia.  Assured Head of the Armed Service Operation and Planning Division of the RA Armed Forces, Colonel Zorayr Gabrielyan at the “Armenpress” club.  According to him, “Iskander” hits accurately at the distance of 280 and more kilometers, the weight of fighting part is half a ton, “Well, imagine what devastation it causes.”  To the question of what are the opportunities of “Smerch” and “Iskander” systems, Mr. Gabrielyan said that the staff has been trained and prepared prior to the acquisition of the systems, “We do not have any complexes with the use of them.  During the April war, we had prepared the military units to combat and at any moment the missiles were ready to strike in case of the government decision.”

As Deputy Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces Missile Forces and Artillery, Colonel Artavazd Yaghmuryan said, in 1992-1994, passing a hardship in the battlefield, they were able to create artillery batteries, battalions, legions and brigades, “I do not recall any action that was not supported by the artillery.  During these years, we managed to keep the artillery as a god of war.”  In his words, during the April events, the enemy using the artillery units tried to suppress but during the opposite actions, they had to station their artillery units close to the residential areas: near the hospitals and schools, forcing our gunmen to refrain from large-scale indicators of fire strike but we were able to silence the opponent with a slight firing.
