Giro Manoyan. If the pressure on Azerbaijan continues, eventually they will agree

October 27,2016 13:00

“I think that James Warlick hints that the question is on the agenda in Azerbaijan as we have talked a lot about the status”, while talking to Aravot.am said Giro Manoyan, director of ARF Bureau’s Hay Dat (Armenian Cause) and Political Affairs Office, touching upon the statement made by James Warlick, Co-Chair of the OSCE Minsk Group.

Note that during the meeting with journalists James Warlick welcomed the following statement made by President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliev “the status of autonomous republic is the maximum concession in the issue of Karabakh, what Azerbaijan is ready to go for today. And it harmonizes with the proposals that the mediators of the Minsk Group pose”.

James Warlick supported the welcoming speech in the following way “Not that it is the last say but for that he makes it a matter of discussion”. Giro Manoyan noted that Ilham Aliev had not talked about it so far. “On the contrary, in 2000 Heydar Aliev in their Malis said that at that moment they should focus on taking back the territories around the Nagorno Karabakh Autonomous Oblast, because actually the other one is independent from us for 10 years, that is to say we should somehow forget about the rest. But when Ilham Aliev came, he forgot all that, stared from the beginning and slowly goes back”.  Touching upon on another statement that the expansion of Anjey Kasprchik’s mission is possible, Giro Manoyan said that is the main issue and the agreements reached in Vienna and Saint Petersburg should be put in force. “If Azerbaijan had had that wish, it would have been done so far, the fact is that they do not have a wish so far. I think if the pressure on Azerbaijan continues like this, if they say that unless all these issues are settled, it would not be possible to speak about anything, eventually they will agree”.
