Armenian cellist Narek Hakhnazaryan, winner of the Gold Medal at the 2011 XIV International Tchaikovsky Competition, will perform in Amsterdam. The concert by the Armenian cellist with the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra will take place at the Royal Concertgebouw Concert Hall in Amsterdam on January 14-15.
According to the official website of the concert hall, Hakhnazaryan will perform the Cello Concerto by Antonín Dvořák and “Ein Heldenleben” by Straus, conducted by Mark Albrecht.
To note, for a year and a half Narek Hakhnazaryan has been playing on the historical musical instrument made by Giuseppe Guarneri, a member of the famed Guarneri instrument-making family of Cremona, Italy. Hakhnazaryan has acquired the instrument from a Canadian-based Chinese, who is one Hakhnazaryan’s music lover and gifted the cello to the musician by a contract for three years’ initial term.
Hakhnazaryan is recognised worldwide as one of the finest cellists of his generation. Since winning the Cello First Prize and Gold Medal at the XIV International Tchaikovsky Competition in 2011 at the age of 22, he has forged strong relationships across the globe with orchestras such as the Mariinsky Orchestra, Seoul Philharmonic, Filarmonica de la Scala and the London Philharmonic. Hakhnazaryan was selected to the prestigious 2014 BBC New Generation Artists Scheme, and his performances are broadcast regularly on BBC Radio 3.omy development.
