Misleading theses

April 12,2017 13:04

In the political life of Armenia, and especially before elections, wrong and misleading theses are being presented to the society, which are “opposing” in form, but in content contribute to the consolidation of the authorities’ almighty power and invincibility myth. It is reasonable to assume that the source of these theses is the government itself.

Thesis 1. If this or that political or public opposition figure was not shot, was not imprisoned, if s/he freely speaks on television and on other media, and if s/he becomes a deputy of the National Assembly or a member of the City Council, then “there is a secret deal.” Of course, this thesis is brought up by the opposition who try to discredit each other, but it is obvious that it eventually devalues any opposition activities carried out within the law.

For instance, how many times within this month have you heard that Congress has agreed with the government to receive a mandate, and that is why “Levon speaks all that out”, and that is why he is being inviThesis H1? Why not at least now tell “sorry, we were wrong”? This tale, which also applies to other opposition forces, is extremely beneficial to the government. As if they all are puppets controlled by Baghramyan 26.

Thesis 2. “Whatever you do, they will fake it.” This is an exhortation of hopelessness, apathy, and let it be forgiven to say, of a choking atmosphere. Announcing that everything is meaningless, especially all the promises, speeches, and plans, prior to the elections. It is “translated” as what they say, do not listen, nothing matters, everything is decided.

Thesis 3 (proceeding from the previous one). “Do you doubt that the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) will win?” In this and previous elections people were fed up with this thesis, in order not to participate in the elections, or to vote for the RPA, for the sake of money, acquaintances, “endearment”, or “honor”. Because if the election results are predetermined, it is possible either to earn some money, or “to do a favour” to your friend or relative with your vote. Besides, it is also a propaganda of illegal forms of political fight: “protest”, “rebellion”. And their disposal is a piece of cake for Armenia.
